Eminent music artist Babu Sarkar was born in Islampur, Phillip Nagar, Kushtia district. His father's name is Sarkar Matiur Rahman and maternal aunt Fazila Khatun. Musician Babu Sarkar got involved with music from childhood as music was practiced in his family.
His grandfather Golam Rahman was a radio musician in the 60s. Artist Babu Sarkar took up music from brother Mintu Mukhless. After that, he was apprenticed to Kushtia master Abdul Motalib. Later he studied under Ustad Akhtar Sadmani and under various masters of Bangladesh and India.
Babu Sarkar was listed as a modern and folk music artist in Bangladesh Betar in 1988 and Bangladesh Television in 1994. He is currently a special category musician of Betar and a category A musician of Bangladesh Television. Artist Babu Sarkar is also working regularly as a music director of Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television. He is an MA in Political Science.
